Katipunan has been going through some changes lately and we're loving the new places that are popping up all over the avenue. Peanut Butter Company is one of the newest hang-out for students in the area. They have one of the most unusual menus I've ever seen, having peanut butter as a key ingredient to most of their dishes. Yup, everything with peanut butter. Sweet and savory sandwiches, curry, pasta, burgers, milk shakes. It was peanut butter heaven.
Fish Diablo Pasta (105 half/185 whole) I was most intrigued by this pasta dish because hey, it's fish, tomato sauce and peanut butter. For the most part, it works. The cream dory was cooked well, pasta was al dente and the sauce went really well with it. It was incredibly spicy, which drowns out the sweet taste of the peanut butter, leaving you with just the rich taste finely ground peanuts and tomatoes. Boyfriend said it was too spicy for his taste but all in all, the dish had a great balance.
Elvis the King (85 half/155 whole) Boyfriend also decided to go the adventurous route and ordered the Elvis, which according the waiter, is one of their bestsellers. It's a peanut butter and banana sandwich with bacon and it was good. It was really good. The banana had the right amount of sweetness and the bacon they used wasn't salty and it didn't have a lot of fat. The combination is quite unusual but it really works.
Marshmallow Peanut Butter (75 half/135 whole) Peanut Butter Company has a small selection of desserts but we chose to go with another sandwich because one can never really have enough peanut butter sandwiches. This sandwich was simple and straightforward but very satisfying. I just wish the marshmallow was a little thicker.Peanut Butter Company is not a place where one should play it safe. It is a place for the bold and the daring. It's the perfect place for couples looking for great culinary adventures. I'm looking forward to eating here again with Boyfriend and next time, I'll definitely try their PB Burger. Peanut Butter Company has branches in MOA, Legaspi Village, SM North and Katipunan.
