Chelsea Market and Cafe: An Aura of Good Food

Chelsea Market and Cafe is one of our favorite restaurants in Serendra. For reasons that go far beyond their food, we always walk out the cafe beaming with happiness. I simply can't explain it. It may be because of the relaxed ambiance inside, the delectable products on the shelves that are quite pleasing to the eyes, or the friendly staff who we've seen dancing in the parking lot once. But whatever the reason may be, what we really keep coming back for is the food.

Jalapeno Cheddar and Swiss Emmental Fondue (650/serves 4)
We usually start our meals at Chelsea with their Focaccia Bread that I keep forgetting to take a picture of. You can ask for extra servings of the bread if you're too hungry to wait for your appetizers, such as this cheese fondue. We actually ordered this on a different occasion (with friends), but I chose to include this here because even though the serving is quite big, it is a great appetizer that can be shared by couples, especially those on double dates. The set contains bread, nachos, green and black olives, and fresh cherry tomatoes - all of which goes really well with the cheese that also contains slices of jalapeno. The cheese is of great quality, but it got cold easily because the fire kept going off.

Grandma's Crispy Duck Confit and Mushroom Risotto (575) Boyfriend and I were quite happy when we saw that we were given the leg and thigh part of the duck. The skin was very crispy, but the meat was a little dry. Also, there wasn't enough peppercorn sauce for the big slice of duck. The high point of this dish is the mushroom risotto which is cooked al dente. The flavors are also spot on. Chef Gordon Ramsay would be really proud of whoever cooked this risotto.

Simply Grilled & Roasted Jumbo Prawns (550) This particular dish sent moans to our table. The prawns were fresh and juicy and they were cooked perfectly and with consistency. The flavors are further enhanced by a squeeze of lemon. The risotto was also cooked well.

New York Chocolate Chip Brown Cookie Dough Cheesecake (310/slice)
I have featured this cheesecake on my very first post, but it is imperative that I include it here because as I may have said before, this is the best cheesecake we've had. I'm usually more adventurous with my desserts but I can't fight the need to order this every time I dine at Chelsea.

Chelsea Market and Cafe is a great restaurant for double dates. Their serving portions are big, so being with another couple gives you the chance to try out more dishes. Besides, it's never a bad thing to be in the presence of other people who are as head over heels as you and your partner. Chelsea Market and Cafe is at Serendra, The Fort.
